Manteo High School students have performed well both in and out of the classroom. MHS was recognized in 2008-2009 for Growth and as a School of Distinction under the ABCs of Public Education. We also met Adequate Yearly Progress under the federal legislation for the sixth straight year. These positive results reflect a shared dedication by our staff, students, parents and community toward providing the best possible learning opportunities for all of our young people. We continue to strive to improve each year.
Our Beliefs:
Every student can learn, achieve and succeed. Students learn best when uninterrupted classroom instruction is top priority and when that instruction is both rigorous and relevant. Students excel when instruction addresses individual needs. Parents, teachers and the community must work together with students to ensure their success. Students benefit from a culturally and academically diverse school environment.
Manteo High School’s Mission:
The mission of Manteo High School is to work in partnership with parents and the community to provide every student the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a changing world.
Manteo High School’s Vision:
At Manteo High School we believe in doing whatever it takes to ensure that every student is college ready. MHS students and staff place a high value on parent and community involvement. Our motto, “Proud of our Tradition…Excited about our Future,” cannot be possible without your help and support. We invite your continued contribution and participation to help our students and staff rise to meet the challenges that lie ahead.

Girl's Volleyball "Dig Pink"
October is breast cancer awareness month. The girls volleyball team is preparing to host an event known as "Dig Pink." It is sponsored by a national organization with the intent of raising breast cancer awareness. On Oct. 6, Manteo will host Northside High School. The team will be wearing pink jerseys, and after the match, they will be participating in a fundraiser "competition." The players are currently in the process of seeking donors who would be willing to donate just a few cents for every pass each player and a partner can complete continuously. For example, if a donor donates, $.10 per pass, and the girls complete 100 passes, the donor would agree to donate $10.00. In addition, prior to the match, on Sept. 24, the team will be conducting a car wash at ECB in Manteo. All proceeds from the car wash will add on to the money raised via the passing competition. Get your car washed then come check out the game! Any amount would help this great cause!
Starts: 09/24/2011 Ends: 10/06/2011
