Coastal Gardening Festival
Sat, May 19th 2012 09:30 a.m.
The 10th annual Coastal Gardening Festival is sponsored by the Dare Extension Master Gardener Volunteers in association with the Dare County Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension. The theme this year is "Small Seeds Yield Great Rewards". The Festival offers everything from plants, jewelry, and home decor to yard art and food. Educational displays and demonstrations address gardening/landscaping subjects.Children's activities focused on gardening are also offered. A raffle with numerous prizes from local businesses and vendors assists in supporting the ongoing maintenance and construction in our Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Garden. If you are interested, raffle tickets can be purchased at the event or in advance; and are 6 for $5 or $1 each. Please post a comment to this event and we will get back to you if you would like to buy tickets in advance. Also, plan to visit the Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Garden as part of your visit to the festival. It is located adjacent to the Thomas A. Baum Senior Center at 300 Mustian Street in Kill Devil Hills. The purpose of the Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Garden is to create an outdoor classroom that provides horticultural education, as well as to test and display labeled plantings and planting practices that are suitable for our coastal climate, and to provide a garden for the viewing pleasure of all citizens and visitors of Dare County. And now that is is spring, it is in full bloom! . . . More Info - Dare County Master Gardeners
