Principals’ Message

Cape Hatteras Secondary School of Coastal Studies is the only secondary school serving students in grades 6-12 in Dare County. Our school offers a unique educational experience for students with a mission to provide a safe, secure, and orderly educational environment that promotes the nurturing and positive motivation of staff and students. Our goal is to offer a challenging curriculum which embraces the unique geographical, economic and cultural heritage of our island community. As a School of Coastal Studies we work closely with parents and the school community to meet the needs of all students by offering innovative educational opportunities based on well developed goals and standards for success. These programs are guided by the Coastal Studies theme, and by our shared vision for increasing and improving rigor, relevance, relationships, respect and responsibility. By offering meaningful extracurricular activities and programs we encourage the development of the whole child.
